Straight to the electronic letters...

Peddler,

How do you get in a rhythm during the early morning hours. I end up ruining my whole day because I'm stressed out by noon.

Paul, IL

Paul,

I'm a bit confused here. Are you telling me you're doing actual work in the morning? No wonder you're going gray at 23 pal, you need to cut back a bit. No matter how much of a go getter you think someone is, they don't start working until at least 10am. And here's how...

When you get to work, go straight to your desk and make it obvious that you've made it in on time. Shuffle your desk around, turn your computer on, maybe even send an email. Then, get lost. Staying in your office and fooling around on the internet may seem like a good idea, but you are too accessible to your peers in case real work needs to be done. Head over to the cafeteria for a nice long coffee break, stopping by everyone's desk on the way to spread your morning cheer. If someone asks you to do something when you're at their desk simply interrupt them and respond with, "I have to go pick up a package that was just delivered to me, why don't you email me with whatever you need, and I'll help you out when I get back." You're in the clear.

Don't overwork yourself by lunch, the afternoon goes by way too slow for that.

Peddler,

My boss asked us to come in tomorrow to finish a proposal, but I have tickets to the Ohio State/USC game, and would probably miss the game if I went in. I'm an Ohio State alumni, and pretty excited about the game, what should I do?

Chris, CA

Chris,

I hate to say this, but go to work. The game is going to be a rout by the Trojans, and despite how much fun the tailgating would be, your team might get murdered by halftime. On another note, the tickets are going for over a thousand bucks a pop, which is enough money to feel good about yourself when you're watching the game on TV. So bite the bullet, sell the tickets, and let your boss know you did it. Believe me, if he/she knows anything about sports, they'll understand the sacrifice you made and you'll be in good graces for many years to come. And if the Buckeyes end up winning, then you're an idiot...
