That Was a Long Weekend...But We Earned It

I assume everyone had a lovely Labor Day weekend, because how could you not have? Even though the holiday symbolically marks the end of the summer, there are so many advantages involved as well. First of all, this is a holiday that is dedicated to us; the lowly, average, working man/woman. It's so amazing that after working all year, and dedicating our entire lives to our craft, the government gives us off one Monday in September to celebrate. Thanks.

While working at my last job, my boss asked me if I could come in on this Monday to help finish up a project we had been working on. Come in on Labor Day? Are you joking? I'd rather come in to work on Christmas. Labor Day is MY day, the one that I've personally earned through the past year. Other holiday's are fine and all, but this one is mine. Memorial Day? I have never served in the Armed Forces. July 4th? I didn't sign the Constitution. Columbus Day? I don't sail.

You see, the only holiday that affects me personally is this one, which is why I'm on coffee number five at 10am. I might have celebrated a bit too much. That's another positive attribute of this holiday that people often sleep on. We all know it's our last glimpse of summer, and most party goers take full advantage by living it up the right way, with three days and nights of constant binge drinking. Because, what other way is there to celebrate?

Also, we have football starting this week, and thank heavens for that. But I'm sure you are already annoyed from the loser sports fans in your office who started talking to you for the first time in six months this past week. You know the guys I'm talking about. They have no friends outside of work, but also have a strong affinity for football, and especially their favorite team (loser sports fans usually root for the Cowboys or Steelers, because they are idiots). This combination leads them to walk into your office five times a day and talk trash about how your team is lackluster, while their team is supreme. I'll have an entire post focused on these douchebags tomorrow, so get pumped.
