Firing in the News

Damn blogs. They are constantly putting the average American in peril, and someones gotta do something about it. Why can't they just exist to inform and humor, instead of berating celebrities and random people from their office. Oh wait...

Recently a woman working in a retirement home (they like to be called senior living centers now, but I refuse) wrote an email to Perezhilton.com insinuating something nasty about everyones favorite baby-maker, Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately, this brilliant mind sent the email with her work account, and it happened to be so brilliant that Perez posted it as his email of the day, and included her name and email so anyone could respond to her. I'm sure you can guess what happened next...

Everyone reading the site sent hate mail to the poor woman and even went as far as calling her employer and asking for her resignation. Man, people love Angelina. I had no idea.

So the old folks' home decided it would be best if they fired the poor lady simply for not using her gmail account on an email to a gossip blog. That's a tough deal. Which brings me to my point. Never ever, under any circumstance, use your work email for anything. Even if you can't access a public email from your work computer, don't risk your job because you like to shop on ebay or download S&M porn. It's not worth it, and you'll be on the street in no time.

Of course, I am not as cruel as Perez, and I usually change the name of the submitter when Mailbag rolls around. Unless of course, that person does something to anger me, or if I want to test the boundaries of societal firing. Here's an example...

Peddler,

I work for a prominent sports network and was wondering if it's at all possible for me to start a relationship with a 16 year old boy that temps in my office. He's real cute and digs my left eye. Boo-ya...

-S. Scott, CT

I would never do that though, it's way too cruel and has no place on the Intraweb. So what did we learn today? Don't talk trash about Angelina, and don't get a job where old people go to die. Man, this was a cruel post...I apologize.
